The corner of Bachelor's Walk and Lower Sackville Street (now Lower O'Connell Street) in Dublin city centre, on an unknown date. Many of the businesses are damaged, indicating this photo was taken during or shortly after the fighting that occurred between 1916 and 1922. The premises visible on Bachelor's Walk are John Wallis and Sons railway and steam packet agents (number 33) and George Butler and Sons musical instrument makers (34). Martin Kelly and Son fishing tackle manufacturers and gunpowder importers are at 56 Lower Sackville Street, while Chancellor's (photographers to the King) are at 55 and Butler's Medicall Hall is at 53-54. This photograph was taken by John Chancellor - see stamp on bottom right of shot. |
