Andrews, Christopher Stephen (1901 - 1985)
Todd Andrews (first left) at the 1969 Golden Harp Awards presentation ceremony. He is looking at one of the female runners-up - possibly the Soviet winner of the Bronze Harp for the programme 'Timonia'. An unidentified man stands on the right applauding. Todd Andrews was Chairman of the RTÉ Authority from 1966-1970.
The aim of the Golden Harp festival was to promote international exchanges of folk music and folklore programmes and to encourage interest in traditional cultures among the nations represented through the associated competition. It was organised under the auspices of the European Broadcasting Union. 1969 was the fourth year of the festival. The awards ceremony was not broadcast on television that year. More details on the 1969 competition can be found in the RTÉ Guide of 10 October 1969.
