| Description |
Broadcaster Terry Wogan gets close to a gramophone player in the Gramophone/Gram Library (later known as the RTÉ Sound Library) at Radio Éireann's (RTÉ Radio) GPO studios, during an RTV (RTÉ) Guide photo shoot in May 1963. He was a newsreader on both Radio Éireann and Telefís Éireann (RTÉ Television) at the time. This still was one of two from this shoot that accompanied a Guide article written by Terry Wogan, entitled 'Here is the News', published on 24 May 1963. Terry Wogan joined Radio Éireann in 1961 as an announcer. After the opening of Telefís Éireann in 1962 he worked on many programmes at the station, including stints as a newsreader, before leaving Ireland to join the BBC full-time in 1969. |
