RTÉ producer Bill Skinner (left) with cameraman Aidan Maguire on the set of 'Down at Flannery's', during the filming of the first episode in 1963. 'Down at Flannery's' was an RTÉ light entertainment production, which combined ballad singing and traditional music with the day to day happenings in a fictional Irish village, Ballybeckett. It was written by Carolyn Swift and first screened on Telefís Éireann (RTÉ Television) on 10 July 1963. |
