| Description | American popular singer and originator of 'The Twist' dance craze Chubby Checker (centre, aka Ernest Evans) at a reception in the Gresham Hotel, Dublin in July 1963. He was meeting the press before commencing an Irish tour. In this shot he is seated between an unidentified man and woman looking at some notes the man is holding. Everyone is smiling. A poster advertising Checker's appearance in Ireland is partially visible in the left background. This shot may have been taken in the bar area of the hotel - a small table with glasses is visible in the left foreground. A feature on Checker's visit to Dublin appeared in the RTV Guide of 26 July 1963. | |
