Northern Irish politician Bernadatte McAliskey (née Devlin) addressing a rally outside Dáil Éireann on 9 December 1970. This shot was taken at an anti-internment protest outside Leinster House. McAliskey was a prominent figure in the Northern Ireland civil rights marches of the late 1960s. She was elected to Westminster in 1969, the youngest woman ever to be elected to that parliament. |
