|Programme||Telefís Scoile - Boy on an Island: the stories of Liam O'Flaherty|
Seaweed draped over stones to dry on Inishmore on the Aran Islands off the coast of County Galway in July 1969. The seaweed is arranged in two clumps over the heaped stones. This still was taken during the filming of 'Boy on an Island: the stories of Liam O'Flaherty' which was shown by RTE as part of its educational programming 'Telefis Scoile'. It was an impressionistic film about what the island would have looked like to a boy of 12 and the impact it had on O'Flaherty's writing. 'Boy on an Island' was produced/directed by Pat Baker; it was first broadcast on 3 November 1969.
'Telefis Scoile' comprised several different series of programmes on subjects studied by secondary school students at Junior (Intermediate/Junior Certificate) and Senior (Leaving Certificate) levels. It was initiated by RTE in 1964 in association with the Department of Education.
