Irish ventriloquist/puppeteer and broadcaster George Boyle with his puppet Beartlaí, on the set of RTÉ Television's 'Be My Guest', in a shot taken for the RTÉ Guide during studio recording of a St Patrick's Day special in early 1967. George Boyle (or Seoirse Ó Baoghaill) appeared on several RTÉ children's programmes in the early sixties, including his own show 'Seoirse agus Beartlaí'. 'Be My Guest' was a fortnightly show, featuring musical guests from the Irish traditional music scene. It was normally presented by Din Joe (Denis Fitzgibbon), but the 1967 St Patrick's Day special (broadcast as 'St Patrick's Night Céilí') was hosted by Irish actor Joe Lynch. |
