RTÉ producer Jim FitzGerald as Wolfe Tone, in a scene from the RTÉ Television drama-documentary 'Atty Bunting', during studio filming in 1967. Atty or Edward Bunting, collected many of the traditional airs on which Thomas Moore based his melodies. 'Atty Bunting' featured dramatised episodes, film sequences and music. It was broadcast on St Patrick's Day 1967. A brief article on the programme appeared in the RTE Guide of 10 March 1967. In addition to his career as an RTÉ producer, Jim FitzGerald was a theatre director in Ireland in the 1950s and 1960s. He was appointed Telefís Éireann's Head of Drama in the early 1960s. |
