Description |
A scene from the RTÉ Television production of Brendan Behan's play 'An Giall' ('The Hostage'), during filming in Studio 1 in early 1968. From left to right; Áine Ní Mhuirí as Colette, Colin Bird as Oglach IRA, Eamon Kelly as Padraig, Michael Campion as Leslie and Bernadette McKenna as Treasa. The scene is taking place in a tenement room of an old Georgian house. Campion is seated at a table as McKenna stands beside him. Campion was a member of RTÉ Players, while McKenna was a member of The Abbey Theatre Company. This RTÉ production was broadcast on St Patrick's Day 1968 with Brian MacLochainn producing. 'An Giall' was originally written in Irish and this was the version produced by RTÉ. Pádraig Ó Siochrú adapted the play for television; he wrote about it for the RTÉ Guide of 15 March 1968. Stills from this shoot were used to illustrate that article. |
