Description |
Teacher and broadcaster Paddy Crosbie, in an RTÉ radio studio in May 1973. A still from this shoot accompanied an RTÉ Guide article, published on 1 June 1973, about the return of 'School Around to Corner' to RTÉ Radio. The first programme in this series aired on 8 June 1973. In addition to presenting the show, Paddy Crosbie was the originator and writer of 'School Around the Corner'. The show was first broadcast by Radio Éireann in 1954, and ran continuously until 1961 when it was transferred to Telefís Éireann (RTÉ Television). It was the first Telefís Éireann programme to be pre-recorded in 1961; the first episode was broadcast on 2 January 1962. The programme continued until 1966 on RTÉ Television before returning to RTÉ Radio for another year. It was again revived on radio in 1973 and ran on RTÉ Television from 1990-1994. |
