Description |
An exterior view of Hearns Hotel on Parnell Street, Clonmel, County Tipperary in October 1973. Two cars are parked outside the hotel. Hearns Hotel was the home of Italian Charles Bianconi from 1826 to 1834, who through his coach business played a major role in the development of Ireland's road transport system in the nineteenth century. Bianconi gave the building to his assistant Daniel Hearn in 1834, who then converted the stables and courtyard into a hotel. RTÉ Television broadcast a programme about Bianconi on 15 November 1973, entitled 'An Italian Image Boy', as part of its 'Scope' series of documentaries. The accompanying RTÉ Guide article, published on 9 November 1973, featured stills from this shoot. |
