Irish athlete Dick Hooper, on his way to winning the first RTÉ Radio 2 Dublin City Marathon, on 27 October 1980. He is running along the Stillorgan Road, escorted by a Garda motorcycle rider. RTÉ Radio 2 (now 2fm) provided extensive coverage of this marathon throughout the day of the event. The RTÉ Guide published an article about it on 24 October 1980, while the RTÉ staff magazine 'Access' featured an extensive front page article on 13 November 1980. |
