DJ Jimmy Greeley (left) interviews singer Johnny McEvoy, on RTÉ Television's 'Live Aid for Africa', during filming in Studio 1 on 13 July 1985. Live Aid was a global rock concert held to raise funds for famine relief in Ethiopia. RTÉ Television broadcast live coverage of the event as 'Live Aid for Africa'. Viewers were invited to ring in with pledges of donations and to bid on items for auction. Producer Niall Mathews won a Jacob's Award for this programme in 1986. |
