Description | A wide shot of RTÉ Television's Studio 1, during coverage of Live Aid on 13 July 1985. Live Aid was a global rock concert held to raise funds for famine relief in Ethiopia. RTÉ Television broadcast live coverage of the event as 'Live Aid for Africa'. Viewers were invited to ring in with pledges of donations and to bid on items for auction. Broadcaster Vincent Hanley (left) is interviewing pianist John O'Conor. Two cameras are also visible. Producer Niall Mathews won a Jacob's Award for this programme in 1986. | |
