Irish singer Gay Woods, on stage during the 'Self Aid' concert in aid of Ireland's unemployed, in the RDS, Dublin on 17 May 1986. She was playing with her band Auto Da Fe. The RTÉ Guide previewed the concert on 16 May 1986. 'Self Aid' was at that time the largest live music event ever staged in Ireland; fourteen hours of music from Irish artists was broadcast live by RTÉ Television from the RDS. The public were invited to pledge jobs and money to a job creation fund. |
