Lord Killanin, the President of the International Olympic Committee (1972-1980), photographed at a press conference in the Berkeley Court Hotel, Dublin, on 29 May 1980. He was giving an update on the position of the Moscow Olympic Games following the American-led boycott. Lord Killanin started his career as a journalist. He was made president of the Irish Olympic Council in 1950 and served on a number of company boards. He was born Michael Morris but became the third Lord Killanin on the death of his uncle in 1927. |
