Irish band Hothouse Flowers performs on stage at the National Stadium, Dublin, during the RTÉ People in Need Telethon on 21 April 1989. Lead singer Liam Ó Maonlaí is on keyboards; Fiachna Ó Braonáin is first right on guitar. Generally held every two years, the Telethon is a charity fund-raiser. The 1989 Telethon raised approximately £2.3 million. The RTÉ Guide previewed the show in its issue of 21 April 1989, while the RTÉ staff magazine 'Access' published a report on the day's activities on 11 May 1989. |
