Bono, lead singer with Irish rock band U2 and Dave Fanning, RTÉ Radio 2 (now 2fm) broadcaster, backstage during the 'Self Aid' concert in aid of Ireland's unemployed, at the RDS, Dublin, on 17 May 1986. 'Self Aid' was at that time the largest live music event ever staged in Ireland; fourteen hours of music from Irish artists, including U2, was broadcast live by RTÉ Television from the RDS. The public were invited to pledge jobs and money to a job creation fund. |
