| Description |
A young girl plays the fiddle during the Fleá Nua in the National Stadium, Dublin, photographed for the RTÉ Guide in early June 1972. She is watched by a large group of children seated around her on stage. This event featured competitors who had been scheduled to take part in a deferred concert featuring prizewinners from the 1971 Fleadh Cheoil. RTÉ Television recorded extracts from this event and broadcast them as 'Ceolchoirm na mBuaiteoirí 1971' on 1 July 1972. It was the first of a series of programmes of Irish traditional music broadcast by RTÉ Television at this time; the Guide previewed these shows on 30 June 1972. |
