Description |
Broadcaster Terry Wogan (left) poses with a shillelagh, during an RTV (RTÉ) Guide photo shoot in January 1965. The man on the right is unidentified. Guide readers had sent in six shillelaghs in response to a mock appeal made by Wogan in the Christmas issue of the magazine. A still from this shoot accompanied a Guide article published on 15 January 1965. Wogan was presenting the Telefís Éireann quiz show 'Jackpot' at the time this picture was taken. Terry Wogan joined Radio Éireann in 1961 as an announcer. After the opening of Telefís Éireann (RTÉ Television) he worked on many programmes at the station, before leaving Ireland to join the BBC full-time in 1969. |
