Description |
A young girl with a ribbon in her hair (possibly Mary Green) on 'The School Around the Corner', photographed by Winifred Hartford from the television broadcast as it aired circa 1966. This episode was recorded in St Patrick's, Holmpatrick, in Skerries, County Dublin; an exact broadcast date has not been ascertained. Paddy Crosbie presented 'School Around the Corner'; the producer was writer James Plunkett. In addition to presenting the show, Paddy Crosbie was the originator and writer of 'School Around the Corner'. The show was first broadcast by Radio Éireann in 1954, and ran continuously until 1961 when it was transferred to Telefís Éireann (RTÉ Television). It was the first Telefís Éireann programme to be pre-recorded in 1961; the first episode was broadcast on 2 January 1962. The programme continued until 1966 on RTÉ Television before returning to RTÉ Radio for another year. It was again revived on radio in 1973 and ran on RTÉ Television from 1990-1994.
