Micheál Ó Móráin served as a TD for South Mayo from 1938-1969 and for Mayo West from 1969-1973. He was Minister for the Gaeltacht (1957-1959 and 1961-1968), Minister for Lands (1961-1968) and for Justice (1968-1970) when he resigned due to ill-health.
