Description   An Taoiseach Jack Lynch prepares to record an address for United Nations Day, in an RTÉ Television studio in September/October 1972. The programme was broadcast on 24 October 1967.

Jack Lynch served as a Fianna Fáil TD for the borough constituency of Cork from 1948-69, for Cork City North-West (1969-77) and for Cork City (1977-79). He served as Minister for Education (1957-9), Minister for Industry and Commerce (1959-65) and Minister for Finance (1965-6) becoming Taoiseach in 1966. He was Taoiseach from 1966-1973 and 1977-79. Lynch was also an accomplished sportsman, winning four GAA All-Ireland hurling medals in succession from 1941-44, a football medal in 1945 and a further hurling medal in 1946.
