Description   Professor of Economics at Trinity College Dublin Martin O'Donoghue, on the set of RTÉ Television's '7 Days' Budget Special in Studio 2 on 16 May 1973. '7 Days' was RTÉ's flagship current affairs programme; it ran from 1966 to 1976.

Martin O'Donoghue was first elected to the Dáil for the constituency of Dún Laoghaire in 1977. He was appointed Minister for Economic Planning and Development on his first day in the Dáil, a position he held until 1979. He was appointed Minister for Education in 1982, but lost his seat in that year's second general election. He subsequently served in the Seanad and was a director of the Irish Central Bank from 1998-2008.
