A view of the main façade of Buckingham Palace, the Queen's official residence in London, in 1969. A horse and carriage is visible in the middle distance, as are tourists/passers-by standing outside the gates. The Union Jack is not flying. This picture was taken as a stock shot by RTE Stills Department photographer Eddie McEvoy.
Buckingham Palace was originally a town house belonging to the Dukes of Buckingham in the eighteenth century. It has been the official London residence of Britain's sovereigns since 1837.
