Teacher and broadcaster Paddy Crosbie talking to five children sitting behind a desk, during the recording of an episode of 'School Around the Corner' broadcast by Telefís Éireann on either 28th October or 4th November 1962. The edition of 28th October came from Gorey, County Wexford. Two of the children are holding balloons. He presented this programme - the writer James Plunkett was the producer.
In addition to presenting the show, Paddy Crosbie was the originator and writer of 'School Around the Corner'. It was the first Telefís Éireann programme to be pre-recorded in 1961; the first episode was broadcast on 2 January 1962. The programme continued until 1966 on RTÉ Television before returning to RTÉ Radio for another year. It was again revived on radio in 1973 and ran on RTÉ Television from 1990-1994. An RTÉ Guide article outlining the programme's history was published on 1 June 1973.
