Description   Portrait shot of RTE producer Norris Davidson in 1969. His head is bent and his eyes are closed. This shot was taken during the filming of 'Alas Those Chimes', a documentary celebrating the music of the composer William Vincent Wallace which was filmed in Holy Trinity Cathedral in Waterford and in other parts of the county. Davidson scripted and directed this programme. It was broadcast on RTE television as part of the 'Anthology' series of documentaries on 22 December 1969.

Norris Davidson joined Radio Eireann as a scriptwriter in 1947. He became head of scriptwriters in 1961 and started producing television documentaries that same year. He occupied the head of scriptwriters position until 1969 when he became a full-time television producer. He also wrote two novels, 'Galore Park' and 'The Soft Impeachment'. Norris Davidson wrote an article for the RTE Guide on the making of this film - it was published in the edition of 19 December 1969.
