RTÉ newsreader Charles Mitchel in a publicity shot taken in November 1976. Charles Mitchel was Telefís Éireann's first newsreader; he read the first bulletin for the station on 1 January 1962. He was also an actor with the Gaiety Theatre from 1947 until he joined RTÉ. He retired from the station in November 1984. |
