Head and shoulders of two unidentified female violinists who were members of the Waterford Orchestral Players in Holy Trinity Cathedral, Waterford in 1969. This shot was taken during the filming of 'Alas Those Chimes', a documentary celebrating the music of the composer William Vincent Wallace which was filmed in Holy Trinity Cathedral in Waterford and in other parts of the county. The two violinists shown here are seated one behind the other. The image of the woman in the foreground is blurred while the woman behind her is much clearer - she is looking to the right. They are both holding their violins but these are only partly visible. A music stand is visible in the right backgroud.
Norris Davidson scripted and directed this programme. It was broadcast on RTE television as part of the 'Anthology' series of documentaries on 22 December 1969. Davidson wrote an article for the RTE Guide on the making of this film - it was published in the edition of 19 December 1969.
