Description   Former Fianna Fáil Taoiseach Seán Lemass, during the filming of an RTÉ Television interview in 1967. He is holding a pipe. Patrick Gallagher conducted this interview with Lemass which was broadcast on RTÉ Television on 4 December 1967.

Seán Lemass fought in the 1916 Easter Rising as a schoolboy. He took the Republican side in the Civil War and was interned briefly between 1922 and 1923. He was first elected a TD in 1925 and kept his seat until his retirement from politics in 1969. He served as Minister for Industry and Commerce from 1932 in various Fianna Fáil governments, until his election as Taoiseach in 1959. He resigned as Taoiseach in 1966.
