Irish writer Bryan MacMahon on the set of the RTÉ Television Irish language programme 'Iar-Phroinn' in 1966. Two of his guests can be seen in the background. They are Dr Seamus Wilmot, Registrar of the National University of Ireland and Director of the Abbey Theatre, and singer Eibhlín Ní Bheaglaoigh.
'Iar-Phroinn' was essentially an after-dinner studio discussion programme in Irish, with a different host and guests each week. MacMahon was the host on this programme which was broadcast on 10 December 1966 A still from this shoot was published in the RTÉ Guide on 9 December 1966.
Bryan MacMahon was a primary school teacher in Listowel, County Kerry, for nearly fifty years. He wrote short stories, plays and a novel, 'Children of the Rainbow' (1952). His first collection of short stories was entitled 'The Lion Tamer' (1948).
