Description   RTÉ News reporter Tom MacSweeney (left) interviews Joe Murphy, Chairperson of the organising committee for the 150th anniversary of Dromleigh National School, in Cooldorrihy, Kilmichael, County Cork, in November 1989. The cameraman is Roy Hammond. This report was broadcast on 10 November 1989.

Dromleigh National School is Ireland’s oldest functioning primary school. A pre-Famine building (1840) it is near the site of the Kilmichael Ambush that took place during the War of Independence; it remained closed in the week following the ambush when the Black and Tans took reprisals in the area.
