Description |
A Bloomsday publicity shot taken in June 1991. From left to right; Ken Monaghan (a nephew of James Joyce and Director of the James Joyce Centre in Dublin), Irish actor Dermod Lynskey, dressed as James Joyce and holding a copy of the novel 'Ulysses', and RTÉ producer Willie Styles. They are standing beside an antique microphone. This photo shoot was promoting the re-broadcast of the RTÉ Players reading of 'Ulysses', on RTÉ Radio 1 on 15 June 1991. Willie Styles directed this production which was first broadcast on 15-16 June 1982. The 1991 re-broadcast was to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Joyce's death and to mark Dublin's status as European City of Culture. The RTÉ Guide published a preview in its issue of 14 June 1991 while the programme was also mentioned in the RTÉ staff magazine 'Access' on 6 June 1991. This still was published in 'Access' on 4 July 1991. |
