A scene from the RTE/Channel 4 co-production 'Summer Lightning', during filming in Maynooth College, County Kildare in August 1984. Kathleen Barrington, dressed as a nun, is walking along a corridor, illuminated by leaded windows set in a Gothic-style arch. Her habit is white and she is wearing a large wimple.
'Summer Lightning' was adapted for television by Derek Mahon and Paul Joyce, from Ivan Turgenev's novella 'First Love'. It was made by RTE in association with Channel 4. It was directed by Paul Joyce and produced by Michael Garvey and was first televised by RTE on 8 April 1985. The RTE Guide featured a two-page article on the programme in its edition of 5 April 1985.
