French singer Séverine (first right), the winner of the 1971 Eurovision Song Contest, is congratulated by programme presenter Brídín Gilroy, on stage in Dublin's Gaiety Theatre on 3 April that year. Two of Séverine's backing singers are on the left.
Séverine won for Monaco with 'Un Banc, Un Arbre, Une Rue'. This was the first year RTÉ hosted Eurovision. Full details on all of that year's contestants appeared in the RTÉ Guide on 2 April 1971. A follow-up report was published in the Guide on 9 April 1971.
