Children climbing on railings at the entrance to flats in Corporation Place, off Corporation Street in Dublin's north inner city, in July 1963. These flats were known locally as Corporation Buildings or 'The Buildings' and were knocked down in 1972. One young boy with a bicycle is looking through the railings at the four storey flats on the other side. Corporation Street was originally named Mabbot Street and is now called James Joyce Street.
Several photos of these flats were taken for a feature in the RTV (RTÉ) Guide of 2 August 1963, which publicised the repeat broadcast by Radio Éireann of 'The Poor Old Flea' on 6 August 1963. This was a song-cycle for choir, piano and percussion composed by Gerard Victory and based on Dublin children's street songs. It was performed by the Radio Éireann Singers and first broadcast on 21 December 1961.
