Broadcaster Peter Murphy (left) and producer Michael Monaghan on the set of the RTÉ Television quiz show 'Cross Country Quiz', in a shot taken for the RTÉ Guide during recording of programmes for the second series in the Convent of Mercy Hall in Ennis, County Clare, in late 1971. Stills from this shoot accompanied a Guide preview published on 31 December 1971; the first episode in this second series was broadcast on 2 January 1972.
'Cross Country Quiz' was a weekly quiz programme that featured competing Macra na Feirme clubs from around Ireland. Peter Murphy set the questions and presented the programme for the first three-and-a-half years of its run. An article about the first series of the programme appeared in the RTÉ Guide on 13 November 1970.
