Description |
A LUAS bridge under construction at Charlemont Place by Dublin's Grand Canal, on 15 January 2003. The bridge runs between two buildings - one of which is the Hilton Hotel, not clearly visible in this shot - stopping short at the water's edge. This shot was taken from Charlemont Place; cars are parked by the canal and on the footpath. A female pedestrian is walking towards the camera. This bridge links Charlemont Place with Grand Parade on the opposite side of the canal. LUAS (the Irish word for speed) is Dublin's public transport tram system. It runs on two separate tramlines, the Green Line and the Red Line. The Green Line (which opened on 30 June 2004) connects Sandyford to St Stephen's Green in the city centre. The Red Line (which opened on 28 September 2004) connects Tallaght to Connolly Station. Charlemont is the third stop outward bound on the Green Line. |
