Display of three (gold, silver and bronze) 'Golden Harp' awards on a table in front of a backdrop. This shot was probably taken before the prizegiving ceremony at the Golden Harp Festival in 1966. The awards were in the shape of stringless harps designed by Irish sculptor Oisin Kelly. The harp design is reproduced on three panels on the backdrop with the words 'RTE Golden Harp Festival 1966' underneath.
The Golden Harp Festival was established to promote international exchanges of folk music and folklore programmes and to encourage interest in traditional cultures among the nations represented through the associated competition. It was organised under the auspices of the European Broadcasting Union.
