Caption   A LUAS tram makes it way across the William Dargan Bridge at...
Description   A LUAS tram makes it way across the William Dargan Bridge at Dundrum village, County Dublin on 17 August 2004. The tram is heading towards St Stephen's Green. This is a cable-stayed bridge with a main span of 108.5 metres; the pylon, which is not visible in this shot, is around 50 metres in height. The bridge was designed by engineers Roughan and O'Donovan.

LUAS (the Irish word for speed) is Dublin's public transport tram system. It runs on two separate tramlines, the Green Line and the Red Line. The Green Line (which opened on 30 June 2004) connects Sandyford to St Stephen's Green in the city centre. The Red Line (which opened on 28 September 2004) connects Tallaght to Connolly Station. The William Dargan Bridge at Dundrum is on the Green Line.
