Description |
RTÉ News reporter Shane Kenny, at his desk in October 1984. He has a beard and is looking straight to camera. This still was taken to publicise the launch of RTÉ Radio 1's morning current affairs programme 'Morning Ireland', which Shane Kenny edited. David Hanly and David Davin-Power were the first presenters of the show, which started broadcasting on 5 November 1984. The RTÉ Guide published a feature on 'Morning Ireland', and on 'Today at 5', in its edition of 2 November 1984. This still was one of several from this shoot which were used to illustrate that front cover article. Shane Kenny was the creator and first editor of RTÉ Radio 1's 'Morning Ireland'. He has also edited and presented Radio 1's 'This Week' and the 'News at One'. He has written two books on Irish politics 'Irish Politics Now' (1987) and 'Go Dance on Somebody Else's Grave' (1990). He was Government Press Secretary from 1994 to 1997. |
