Caption   Bachelor's Walk/Lower Sackville Street, Dublin (circa 1920)
Description   The corner of Bachelor's Walk and Lower Sackville Street (now Lower O'Connell Street) in Dublin city centre, circa 1920. Damage to buildings sustained during fighting in the 1916 Easter Rising is still in evidence. The premises visible on Bachelor's Walk are John Wallis and Sons railway and steam packet agents (number 33) and George Butler and Sons musical instrument makers (34). Martin Kelly and Son fishing tackle manufacturers and gunpowder importers are at 56 Lower Sackville Street, while Chancellor's (photographers to the King) are at 55 and Butler's Medicall Hall is at 53-54. This photograph was taken by John Chancellor - see stamp on bottom right of shot.
