Description   A television monitor shot of the audience during the recording of 'School Around the Corner' in Galway in 1963. Thelma Ramsey, who provided the accordion accompaniment for the programme, is sitting on the right of shot with her accordion. A young boy sitting beside her is holding a button accordion. Two editions of 'School Around the Corner' from Galway were broadcast by Telefís Éireann (now RTÉ Television) on 10th and 17th of February 1963. 'School Around the Corner' was presented by Paddy Crosbie and produced by the writer James Plunkett.

In addition to presenting the show, Paddy Crosbie was the originator and writer of 'School Around the Corner'. The show was first broadcast by Radio Éireann in 1954, and ran continuously until 1961 when it was transferred to Telefís Éireann (RTÉ Television). It was the first Telefís Éireann programme to be pre-recorded in 1961; the first episode was broadcast on 2 January 1962. The programme continued until 1966 on RTÉ Television before returning to RTÉ Radio for another year. It was again revived on radio in 1973 and ran on RTÉ Television from 1990-1994. An RTÉ Guide article outlining the programme's history was published on 1 June 1973.
