Description   Half-length portrait shot of British astronomer Patrick Moore, on the set of RTE Television's 'The Sky Above Us', during filming in Studio 1 in February 1968. He is standing behind a desk on which a planetary model has been placed. 'The Sky Above Us' was a four-part series on astronomy, produced by Sean Cotter. The first episode was broadcast on 15 May 1969.

Patrick Moore is the author of over 70 books on astronomy. He is a former president of the British Astronomical Association and the presenter of BBC television's 'The Sky at Night', which has been running since 1957. He was knighted in 2001. Moore was Director of the Armagh Planetarium (1965-68) at the time this picture was taken.
