Geoghegan-Quinn, Máire (1950 -)
Former Fianna Fáil Minister Máire Geoghegan-Quinn, in RTÉ Television's Studio 5 to record 'Céad Chéadaoin', in November 1997. 'Céad Chéadaoin' was made by RTÉ for TnaG (now TG4). It was an Irish language current affairs programme in which two senior politicians interviewed a major public figure.
Máire Geoghegan-Quinn was first elected to the Dáil in 1975 and served as Minister for the Gaeltacht from 1979-81, Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications (1992) and Minister for Justice from 1993-94. She retired from politics in 1997 and served on the European Court of Auditors from 1999-2010. She was appointed Ireland's European Commissioner in February 2010.
