Cardinal Daniel Mannix, Roman Catholic Archbishop of Melbourne. Daniel Mannix was born in Charleville (Rath Luairc) County Cork. He was ordained to the priesthood in 1890, and joined the academic staff of the Royal College of Saint Patrick, Maynooth. He was appointed President of the college in 1903. Mannix was appointed Archbishop of Melbourne in 1912. (1917-1963). |
