St Moling's Well in St Mullins near Graignamanagh, Kilkenny. St Moling's Church can be seen in the background. Holy wells were probably sacred places in pre-Christian Ireland. When Christianity came to Ireland, it used many sites previously associated with pagan worship and the wells became associated with particular Christian saints. |
