A side view of the destruction of the Four Courts, on Inns Quay in Dublin.This is after the bombardment by the Free State Army, during the Civil War on 30 June 1922. Note that fallen tram wires visible in the centre of shot. The Four Courts derives its name from the traditional divisions of the Irish judicial system; Chancery, King's Bench, Exchequer, and Common Pleas. It was designed by James Gandon in the late eighteenth century. |
