Máire Comerford (centre) and other women from Cumann na mBan, attend a commemorative march on an unknown date, possibly the 1940s. The women are wearing Cumann na mBan medals. Máire Comerford was a Sinn Féin propagandist during the War of Independence. The young woman on the top right of shot (smiling) is Bridget (Bridie) Clyne from Donard, County Leitrim. She joined Cumann na mBan in 1919 and later married Niall Ó Rathaille (The O'Rahilly's son). |
